In 2016, Planting Seeds Caribbean in collaboration with BP Trinidad & Tobago, (BPTT) embarked on a
special initiative to foster innovation, growth and productivity through our BPTT Junior Masters of
Industry School Tour and Business Plan Competition to the youth.
The global market has realised the importance of SMEs to the development of the millennial
mindset and the contribution of these businesses to a nation’s economy. The BPTT Junior Masters
Tour acted as a means of developing entrepreneurial skills, mentality and ultimately, inspire
action. We have exploited the role of education to nurture an entrepreneurial workforce across
local sectors with a drive to achieve long-term economic prosperity.
Our first season of the BPTT Junior Masters of Industry Competition was launched on 8th November 2016, with 300 secondary-school students. The tour kicked off with the Planting Seeds Masters of Industry Event featuring keynote speaker Daymond John, co-star of ABC’s hit TV series, Shark Tank. Students were inspired by Mr. John’s presentation on teaching the audience about working with an entrepreneurial mindset that fosters growth and creativity. With the resounding success of the event, we were pleased to announce our first winners - Niesha Amichan and Rohini Mangru, from Parvati Girls’ Hindu College. Their winning product featured an app called Set Free that provides counselling and motivational messages to help millennials face issues affecting them.
Our four finalists for the 2018 BPTT Junior Masters of Industry Competition programme have been selected. With more millennials taking the leap of faith into entrepreneurship and the modern resources available, our goal is to continuously inspire youth to develop their ideas and creativity to build their own profit-making empires.
