Supporting Entrepreneurs

The Beacon Insurance Company Limited is proud to support Planting Seeds, as its programme represents a movement towards further economic development in Trinidad and Tobago. Importantly, Planting Seeds has employed dynamic methods for promoting economic diversification and development, including the production of the highly informative TV show Planting Seeds, and the provision of platforms that allow entrepreneurs to turn their innovative ideas into successful businesses.

Entrepreneurs are frequently thought of as national assets to be cultivated, as their ideas, persistence and hunger for wealth creation can often alter the economic landscape of a country. A cycle is started where wealth created from entrepreneurial ventures generates wealth for others through job creation and partnerships and this in turn lays the foundation for a prosperous society.

By offering a forum where local entrepreneurs can share their ideas and visions, Planting Seeds has allowed them to really step up, take control of their dreams, and make their business goals a reality. For our part, Beacon Insurance Company has contributed to this effort by creating advertisements for the entrepreneurs of Planting Seeds Season 1, which delivered real results.

For example, Charlene Procope, the “Fitness Chef”, not only landed her products a space on the shelves of Starlite, but her video caught the attention of a new emerging fitness series that went on to purchase her meals and is now showcasing her level of expertise as a diet expert and nutritionist.
Kelly Ann Bethel, founder of the SKED app, is another success story. She used her Beacon video to launch her app’s marketing campaign and get companies to register for her app that provides scheduling solutions for companies in the service industry.

After appearing on Planting Seeds, Tobagonian jewellery designer Arielle Holdip, founder of Zaveza, inspired people from all walks of life and secured an investment from Christine Thompson, local franchise holder of the Chuck E. Cheese brand and an investor on the Planting Seeds panel.

Showcasing these young business people was just one facet of the Beacon Insurance Company’s campaign in support of Planting Seeds. Through the entrepreneurial development workshops provided by the Planting Seeds team, we were also able to educate the series’ participants on the importance of employee wellness and its effect on productivity. At the same time, we shared on how our small-business group health plan, ‘Be Better’, could assist in fostering employee wellness. The plan provides scalable employee benefits to small businesses, which in turn create a competitive edge that attracts higher-quality employees. As the entrepreneur’s company grows and expands, the health plan can be scaled up, which ensures that employees are always covered and therefore more motivated to produce their best work.
